Theresa Lewis, Ph.D.
Dr. Lewis, founder of Wake Psychological Health and Wellness, is a licensed Psychologist and certified Health Services Provider through the North Carolina Psychology Board. She earned both her undergraduate and doctorate degrees from the University of Florida (go Gators!). Her background in meditation and yoga teacher training deeply informs her approach—integrating the science of psychology with the wisdom of mind-body connection to support holistic psychological health.
Dr. Lewis specializes in working with adults, women, and couples, offering compassionate, evidence-based therapy tailored to each client’s goals. Her approach is active, collaborative, and solution-focused, drawing from a range of techniques best suited to each individual or couple’s unique needs. Central to her work is the therapeutic relationship—she strives to create a safe, supportive environment where clients feel understood and empowered to cultivate the insight, strategies, and skills that lead to lasting change and meaningful growth.
Dr. Lewis enjoys working with clients experiencing many issues including: anxiety, adjustment and life changes (such as going to or graduating from college, getting married or divorced, death of loved ones, empty nest, or changing jobs and career), stress, ADHD, spirituality, and personal growth and self-acceptance. She enjoys helping couples strengthen their communication, deepen connection, and move beyond recurring stalemates. Whether navigating new challenges or working to repair longstanding patterns, Dr. Lewis brings warmth and clarity to the process of developing insights and change.
A special area of focus for Dr. Lewis is supporting therapists and healers. As clinicians, we’re often expected to have the answers—but knowing the tools doesn’t always make it easier to apply them to ourselves. If you’re a clinician who’s struggling, you’re not alone—and she offers a safe, respectful space for your own healing and reflection. With her Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT/PsyPact) credential, she is able to offer telehealth services in 42 states in addition to North Carolina. This option can be especially valuable for clinicians wanting to work outside of their referral network.
In addition to providing therapy, Dr. Lewis is an experienced consultant, trainer, and clinical supervisor. Her training and experience as a Parenting Coordinator further informs her work, having helped families navigate the challenges of separation and divorce with a focus on developing effective co-parenting relationships and thoughtful parenting plans.
