Kathie Smith, M.S., LCMHC
Kathie B. Smith is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor in North Carolina. She earned her Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling at East Carolina University and has experience working with teens and adults in an array of clinical settings including private practice, wellness and school-based settings, and state government. Kathie specializes in helping individuals and families adjust to disability and the significant life changes that we all face. She provides therapy for a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, life transitions, interpersonal relationship difficulties, organizational skills, oppositional/behavioral management, and social skills. Kathie offers evening and Saturday appointments to accommodate busy professionals, teens and families.
Kathie uses an integrative approach to therapy including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centered Therapy (PCT) and enjoys helping clients learn new coping skills to live a happier and fuller life. She believes that while life presents its challenges, it also presents many opportunities for growth, development and positive well-being. Kathie approaches therapy with empathy, compassion, and a real desire to help you reach your goals. In addition to providing counseling at Wake Psychological Health and Wellness, Kathie serves within state government where she strives to ensure all persons have opportunity and access to employment and independence.
