Amy Goetzinger, Ph.D.
Amy Goetzinger is a clinical psychologist who works with children, adolescents, and adults, and is dedicated to serving the needs of individuals, couples, and families in Raleigh and the greater area. She has worked with Dr. Lewis for 5+ years, and also is faculty at UNC specializing in health and wellness, mindfulness, and chronic pain. Dr. Goetzinger obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Psychology at Loyola University in Maryland, and her PhD in Clinical Health Psychology at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She completed Clinical Internship and post-doctoral training at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Goetzinger provides clinical services primarily on Saturdays, and is therefore able to accommodate weekend appointments, providing flexibility for busy individuals and families. She focuses on high quality assessment, intervention and therapy. She believes that developing a trusting and comfortable therapeutic relationship is key, and her approach to therapy is cognitive behavioral with an emphasis on mind-body connectedness, mindfulness, and solution-focused approaches.
Dr. Goetzinger is a strong supporter of cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness, and enjoys helping clients learn new coping skills to help them live a happier, relaxed, and fuller life. She believes that a caring, empathic, nonjudgmental approach to therapy provides a strong and positive foundation for growth and success in working towards goals. She works with clients who may be experiencing a variety of different life adjustments or problems, including anxiety, depression, stress management, OCD, panic attacks, trauma, ADHD, chronic pain, chronic health problems, loss and grief, personal growth and goal setting. Dr. Goetzinger is not taking new clients at this time.
