Child Therapy

Parents bring children to therapy for a variety of reasons:
poor academic performance, behavioral problems, anxiety,
stress, and  depression, to name a few.
By enlisting the help of
a psychologist, we can help you and your child to live a healthy and fulfilling life.

At Wake Psychological Health and Wellness, we can help your child learn to:
  • Work with their emotions
  • Handle stress more effectively
  • Communicate better
  • Be more respectful

  • Follow rules
  • Recognize and utilize strengths
  • Feel more confident
  • Overcome challenges

Child therapy, for ages 6 - 12, is a team approach involving parents, caregivers, and sometimes teachers, collaborating to help your child learn practical tools and skills, recognize and utilize their strengths, and overcome life's challenges. We’ll work together to get clarity on the problems and areas in need of improvement so that you can help your child discover solutions and feel better. Sometimes a psychological or learning ability evaluation is used for a comprehensive understanding of a child's cognitive and emotional functioning.  Let us help you sort it all out.
Our psychologists tailor evidence-based treatments, including cognitive behavioral therapy or dialectical behavioral therapy for each child, utilizing their individual strengths and preferences along the way.
